Programs

The College of Osteopathic Medicine provides several program options for prospective students ranging from early admissions programs to dual-degree programs.

Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
As a leader in medical education, KCUMB’s College of Osteopathic Medicine annually graduates more physicians than any other medical school in Missouri. From the first day of your medical education, you will acquire hands-on clinical experience, preparing you earlier to become a more effective physician. Clinical presentation enhancements, such as human patient simulators and standardized patients, teach vital patient-physician communication skills. Our Genesis curriculum regularly earns national and international recognition for its focus on the all-important physician-patient relationship.

Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (Partners Program)
KCUMB's College of Osteopathic Medicine established an early matriculation program, called the Partnership Plan, with several outstanding undergraduate institutions. Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine/M.B.A. in Healthcare Leadership
As a student in the doctor of osteopathic medicine/M.B.A. in healthcare leadership dual-degree program, which is unique among U.S. medical schools, you learn how business practices and processes work together to create efficient health-care managerial systems. Your M.B.A. coursework is carefully integrated into your KCUMB curriculum, allowing you to complete both programs on time and graduate with other members of your KCUMB class. M.B.A. coursework begins during the summer between your first and second years of medical school. You will not take courses in both programs simultaneously, except for two distance-learning M.B.A. electives during the final two years of your clinical clerkships.

Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine/M.A. in Bioethics
Advances in stem-cell research and genetic engineering, the globalization of medical practice and health care policy, and the relationships between environmental quality and human health have raised critical ethical issues in medicine. It is crucial that doctors who are also trained in bioethics provide leadership in addressing these vital ethical challenges.

Graduates of the KCUMB dual-degree in bioethics will be prepared to provide this needed leadership. The degree program provides a broad orientation to the interdisciplinary field of bioethics, including an in-depth examination of philosophical and religious ethics. Students can complete both the doctor of osteopathic medicine and master of arts in bioethics at the end of four years.
