Financial Aid Eligibility

To be eligible for federal assistance, a student must:

  1. Be enrolled at least half-time in a degree or certificate program that leads to gainful employment and be in good standing, making satisfactory progress;
  2. Not be in default on any loan from a student loan fund or on a loan guaranteed or insured under the Federal Student Loan Program;
  3. Not owe a refund on a federal grant previously received or in default of other federal debt;
  4. Meet other eligibility requirements, such as those related to selective service registration, citizenship, drug convictions* and aggregate aid limits;

* Special Note: Impact of Drug Conviction on Title IV Eligibility Please be advised that under federal law, a recipient of Title IV student financial assistance who is convicted for possession and/or sale of illegal drugs while enrolled as a student at KCUMB, will be ineligible for further Title IV funds for a fixed period of time, as indicated below.

If convicted of both possession and selling illegal drugs, and the periods of ineligibility are different, the student will be ineligible for the longer period

A student regains eligibility the day after the period of ineligibility ends or when the student successfully completes a qualified drug rehabilitation program. The student will lose eligibility again upon a subsequent drug conviction.
