KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept. 14, 2012) – Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences announced today the addition of Robert W. Flaherty, Ph.D., as vice president for institutional effectiveness and accreditation compliance. Flaherty assumed his role on Sept. 4.

“Dr. Flaherty’s breadth of experience in higher education administration and accreditation will be a tremendous asset to KCUMB,” said H. Danny Weaver, D.O., KCUMB president and chief executive officer. “He possesses a proven track record for assessing and streamlining processes that will serve to enhance the University’s effectiveness, both internally and externally.”

Flaherty comes to KCUMB from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kan., where he served as special assistant to the president for planning and accreditation. Prior to that, he was the associate dean of Baker University’s College of Arts and Sciences.

He currently serves as a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission, the accrediting body for higher education in the Midwest region.

Flaherty holds a bachelor of science degree in psychology from the University of Washington in Seattle, as well as master of arts and doctor of philosophy degrees in social psychology from The Ohio State University. He also holds a master of business administration degree from Baker University.
