This elective is designed for students with interests in genetic research and current topics in the literature. Research in the area of molecular genetics is competitive and success is dependent upon remaining current with literature. The journal-club style of this elective is a foundational event in most research labs. The expectation for this elective is that students improve their ability to read and interpret medical and molecular genetics literature. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the organization of scientific literature, identifying methodology and interpretation of data, discussing and critiquing the importance of the data, recognizing usefulness of research to more global research questions. 1 semester credit Download syllabus (PDF)
