Addressing the needs of osteopathic and allopathic physicians, physicians in-training, and other health care professionals will be included within the scope of the Department of CME's efforts. The Department of CME will utilize the expertise of KCUMB faculty and staff, as well as that of locally, nationally and internationally respected practitioners, educators and researchers.
Educational content will be established through a system of needs assessments such as program evaluation, physician requests, licensing requirements, and current technology and/or treatment methods. The educational content will be offered in a cost-effective and efficient manner through a variety of formats including, but not limited to, evidence-based medicine presentations, didactic lectures, interactive workshops, case discussions, outreach activities in rural and community settings, grand rounds and department scientific meetings and new educational technologies. Appropriate facilities will also be selected to enhance/compliment the learning environment.
The Department of CME will work with other health care institutions to plan and implement collaborative postgraduate educational programs that are consistent with performance standards and process requirements of professional accreditation agencies, as well as the mission, goals, and policies of KCUMB.
To more effectively meet those educational needs of prospective participants relevant to the mission of continuing medical education activities. In order to meet this goal, we will:
