2013 Sports Medicine

  • The inaugural William Legg, D.O., Sports Medicine Conference took place on Friday, June 14, at the Student Activities Center (Rooms 204-206) at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences.

    KCUMB is the largest medical school in Missouri and one of the oldest osteopathic medical schools in the nation. Designed for athletic trainers, physical therapists and physical therapy assistants, this one-day conference was sponsored by KCUMB in collaboration with Pinnacle Therapy Services.

    The KCUMB campus is conveniently located just northeast of downtown Kansas City. Free on-site parking is available to program participants. 

    Overview

    This activity is designed for certified athletic trainers, physical therapists and physical therapy assistants who work daily with athletes and physical therapy patients. Topics covered include pelvic and sacrum dysfunctions, athletic elbow injuries, anterior cruciate ligament injuries, thoracic injuries, concussion management, performance enhancing drugs effects on heat related illness, and current updates from the National Athletic Trainers Association.

    Objectives

    At the conclusion of this conference, participants will be able to:

    • Demonstrate evaluation techniques for lumbar and sacroiliac dysfunctions
