When you make a gift to KCUMB, you can designate your contribution to support the following programs:
KCUMB annually participates in international mission trips through DOCARE International, an osteopathic medical outreach organization dedicated to providing much-needed health care to indigent and isolated people in remote areas around the world.
Score 1 for Health® is a preventive health program for elementary-aged children built upon the belief that optimal health and well-being enhances one’s ability to learn, grow and develop creatively.
KCUMB is uniquely positioned within the osteopathic academic community to step to the forefront in the research and practice of training spiritually cognizant physicians. The foundation of KCUMB’s Spirituality in Medicine program has been in place since 1998 and the study of spirituality is currently being conducted by first and second-year medical students; however, there is much room for growth and expansion.
The University is one of only three medical schools in the United States to twice win the prestigious John Templeton Spirituality in Medicine Award, most recently for integrating elements of spirituality, end-of-life care and diversity throughout the entire medical-school curriculum. With support the University can establish a Research Center for Spirituality and Bioethics and begin a formal process of research and integration.
