Scholarships
Higher education has become increasingly expensive over the past several years. Scholarships can assist student to pursuing his or her education.
KCUMB Scholarships may be funded with gifts of cash, appreciated securities or mutual funds. Additional funding assets may be considered.
Endowed Scholarships
Endowed scholarships create a permanent restricted fund, allowing only the interest earnings to fund student scholarships. The donor contributes the funds, and the donor’s gift is invested with the University’s assets. The interest earnings then provide annual scholarship funding.
Physicians’ Hall of Sponsors Scholarships
The Physicians’ Hall of Sponsors is the University’s premiere scholarship program. Physicians’ Hall of Sponsors Scholarships may be funded over a period of up to five years and are fully funded with a minimum of $25,000. Each scholarship is permanently endowed and may be named in memory/in honor of an individual or entity. A portrait of each sponsor is permanently displayed in the atrium of the Strickland Education Pavilion, and the name of each student recipient is inscribed on a plaque below the picture of the scholarship sponsor. Donors are notified of the scholarship recipient each year, and recipients correspond with donors at least twice per year.
Named Endowed Scholarships
Funds totaling $10,000 or more can be used to name endowed scholarships. Named endowed scholarships may be given in honor/in memory of an individual or organization and may be funded over a period of up to five years. Donors will receive acknowledgement of the annual recipient, and the University encourages correspondence from the chosen student recipient.
General Endowed Scholarship Fund
Alumni and friends may choose to designate their gifts to the General Endowed Scholarship Fund. All gifts designated for this purpose are joined and invested together. Each year, the interest earnings from this fund provide scholarships for second-year medical students who rank in the top 10 percent of their class at the end of their first year.
Annual Scholarships
Named Annual Scholarships
Annual scholarship donors of $1,000 or more may choose to restrict their scholarship funds and name a scholarship in honor/in memory of a particular individual. The university provides acknowledgment of the gift, and student recipients are encouraged to correspond with donors.
Alumni Scholarship Fund
Donors wishing to contribute to annual scholarships at an amount less than $1,000 annually will designate gifts to the Alumni Scholarship Fund. These scholarships are awarded to deserving students who exhibit a financial need.
Adopt-A-Student Scholarship Fund
A commitment of between $1,000 and $5,000 annually over a three-year period allows a donor to adopt-a-student. Student recipients provide acknowledgment and correspondence to the donor.
