Members of Women in Medicine (WIM) give monthly health-related presentations at a local women's shelter, shadow women physicians, participate in fundraising for breast cancer awareness, volunteer at the Kansas City Free Health Clinic and are involved in other volunteer activities.
The Women in Medicine Speaker Series provides lectures on topics that are not normally addressed in the classroom, such as clinical opportunities for women, dealing with abused patients and experiences in training, residencies and clerkships. These lectures provide exposure not only to field knowledge from practicing physicians, but also to their general philosophy about women in medicine.
