Exploring new ways of perceiving the mechanisms underlying biological processes through the study of the structure and function of chemical components
KCUMB's Department of Biochemistry is committed to fulfilling the University’s mission by working to achieve excellence in research and teaching.
In teaching, faculty work to foster research interest among students and mentor them through projects. Lectures and laboratory exercises are kept to the highest standards and are updated regularly to meet the changing demands of students.
In research, biochemistry faculty strive to expand the understanding of biological processes through experimentation and exploration of new ways of perceiving the mechanisms underlying biological processes. Department faculty evaluate the scientific literature, plan and conduct experiments, interpret observations and share findings with colleagues locally, nationally and internationally through presentations and publications.
