The Department of Pharmacology/Microbiology is highly committed to the provision of a scientifically-sound educational platform for teaching medical students our respective disciplines and how to integrate the basic and clinical sciences. The department's goal is to present clinically-relevant material from the fields of pharmacology, pharmacotherapy, microbiology, mycology, immunology, virology and parasitology; ultimately providing medical students with the knowledgebase necessary to become effective practicing physicians. We strongly emphasize the understanding of the fundamental principles of our respective disciplines and strive to equip future physicians with the tools necessary to adapt to the ever-changing field of medicine.The faculty within the Department of Pharmacology/Microbiology are active in regional and national scientific societies, have published scholarly works in nationally recognized peer-reviewed journals, and serve both community-based and professional-based organizations in leadership capacities. The members of the department have diverse research areas of focus and funding and have received awards for both teaching and research excellence.
