Understanding the human body, the practice of health maintenance and treatment of disease
The Department of Physiology encourages students to view physiology as critical and necessary to understanding the human body, the practice of health maintenance and treatment of disease. Faculty members create a culture of health awareness, especially in the areas of exercise and physical activity.
Physiology faculty are actively involved in teaching within each section of the integrated medical curriculum and are responsible for approximately half of the content offered in a student’s first two didactic years, as well as in the College of Biosciences.
The department also maintains a significant presence in the community by providing outreach programs to educate young people on how to increase the amount of exercise they get to improve the quality of their lives.
