Douglas R. Rushing, Ph.D.

A member of the KCUMB faculty since 1972, Dr. Rushing was chosen in 2004 to lead the University’s new College of Biosciences as its dean, in addition to his duties as professor of biochemistry.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Knox College in 1962, Dr. Rushing completed a Ph.D. in biochemistry at the University of Missouri in 1967.
Dr. Rushing has been involved with numerous civic organizations over the years, including serving as board president of Kansas City Consensus, member of the Board of Directors of the Missouri Osteopathic Medical Education Consortium and chairman of the Kansas City, Missouri Energy Commission. He is also a member of The American Society of Human Genetics and Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society.
In his time away from the University, he enjoys attending jazz concerts, going to the theater, seeing movies and reading.
