With
dozens of extracurricular activities to choose from,
KCUMB has something for just about everyone.
The
Office of Student Activities can help connect students
with the organization or activity that best fits their
interests, whether that means participating in student
government,
tutoring local children or singing in a student musical
group. There are more than 25 student
organizations on campus.
All
University organizations complete at least one community-service
project and one fund-raiser annually. Most organizations
have monthly meetings and host special speakers. Members
have the opportunity to network, attend national conventions,
promote the medical profession and participate in special
clinical experiences.
The
Office of Student Activities oversees the University's
student government. Upon enrollment, every student becomes
a member of the Student Government Association (SGA).
Officers and senators of SGA serve on administration
and faculty committees, and they help to bring about
changes that will benefit the student body as a whole.
Many
KCUMB students represent the University and the profession
on a national level. Currently, students are serving
on committees of the American Osteopathic Association,
filling leadership positions on the Council of Student
Government Presidents, and playing key roles in national
executive positions for the Student National Medical
Association and the American National Student Association.
The
Office of Student Activities also manages the KCUMB
student ambassador program. Student ambassadors are
selected student representatives who give tours of campus,
serve on panels and committees, and are involved in
all major campus events, such as Graduation, White Coating
and Homecoming. The ambassadors also coordinate the
hosting program and "guest night."
