How Do I? (FAQs)
What must I do if I’m having barcode problems?
1. If you are off-campus, make sure you are entering your barcode and password correctly; call the Library if you do not know your barcode and password. On campus, you are IP-recognized, and no barcode or password is needed. If you have tried your barcode/password 5 times and entered them incorrectly, you will be locked out of the proxy. Wait thirty minutes and try again. If you have tried your barcode/password 10 times and entered them incorrectly, you will be locked out permanently and you will need to call the IT Help Desk to get it unlocked, (816) 283-2460.
2. Some firewalls will block access to our proxy. In this case, you need to turn off your personal computer’s firewall and restart your computer.
3. Also, you may be using the form filler option in MS Internet Explorer and it is automatically remembering a previous barcode and password for you. To remedy this problem, go to IE and Internet Options from the Tools menu, find the Content tab and choose Auto Complete and clear the Forms data and your Password data.
4. If you are using Internet Explorer, select the Tools button, then Internet Options, then the Advanced Tab. Scroll to the bottom of the Settings list and select both options, “Use SSL 2.0” and “Use SSL 3.0.” Then unselect option “Use TLS1.0.” Then click the Apply button, then the OK button. You may need to close IE and reopen it for this change to take effect.
5. If after trying these solutions you still cannot get your barcode to log you in, please contact either the Library at (816) 283-2290 or the IT Department Helpdesk (816) 283-2460.
