Degree Programs

The Masters program provides students with a broad orientation to the interdisciplinary field of bioethics. This foundation includes courses in clinical ethics as well as philosophical, religious, and humanistic ethics.
The program encourages critical, creative thinking, and innovative approaches to solving bioethical problems. There are opportunities for collaborative work with professionals working throughout Kansas City, as well as with area hospital ethics committees and the Center for Practical Bioethics.
Dual-Degree Program
Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine/M.A. in Bioethics
This dual-degree track is approximately 44 months in length and is designed for KCUMB medical students who decide to pursue a joint master's degree in bioethics. Learn more about the College of Osteopathic Medicine.
M.A. in Bioethics (One-Year)
Students complete their M.A. degree in one year of concentrated study. Students
often enroll in this program with the goal of enhancing their credentials for gaining
entrance into medical school.
M.A. in Bioethics (Career Enhancement – Part-time)
Students in
this cohort typically study part-time and are pursuing a Masters degree in bioethics
to improve their knowledge base and skill set related to the work they do.
