ERAS & Residency Match

Download a complete guide to residency match with timelines/fees (pdf)

The residency match is an application and selection process by which medical school graduates and/or fourth-year medical students investigate institutions for potential internship and/or residency positions. Likewise, the institutions are also interested in finding good candidates for their positions.

The process for applying to internship/residency programs involves several steps, a variety of responsibilities for the student, school and programs, and also a variety of deadlines and fees:

A match occurs when both the graduate/fourth-year medical student and the institution indicate an identical preference or rank regarding internship and/or residency candidacy.

KCUMB students are eligible to participate in the matching programs of both the American Osteopathic Association and the National Residency Match Program. Military students must participate in the military residency match program.
