Health Promotion / Disease Prevention

Research in health promotion and disease prevention is an integral part of the osteopathic philosophy of caring for the whole person. Studies in this area seek to improve health and help avoid developing illness.

As the population of the United States ages, there is an increased need for research to understand and treat diseases that are more common among the elderly. At KCUMB, research in this area is focused on basic mechanisms of cancer and on neurodegenerative disease such as Alzheimer's. Our novel, integrated curriculum offers investigators many opportunities for testing innovative education strategies and implementing the results to the benefit of our students.

Research at KCUMB spans a broad range of interests. Here are some investigators whose work is exciting, interdisciplinary, and aimed at helping physicians and their patients better manage their conditions.
