Basic Science Research

Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences basic science researchers aggressively pursue grant and publication opportunities. Since 1999, KCUMB has achieved research grant funding totaling more than $7 million, including funding from the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense.

With the opening of the 45,000-square-foot Dybedal Center for Research in 2004, KCUMB expanded its capacity for research tenfold. The facility features more than 20,000 square feet dedicated to basic science laboratories equipped for research of Biosafety Levels I and II, as well as labs devoted to cutting-edge proteomics, neurodegenerative diseases and cancer research.
