Dear KCU-COM Joplin Class of 2022, 

Congratulations on your decision to attend KCU-COM! We are excited to welcome you to campus for your orientation activities beginning Monday, July 16. Orientation Week, Med School 101, and the White Coating Ceremony will make for two very busy weeks leading up to your first day of class on Monday, July 30. We encourage you to review preliminary information about these events, below. In the coming months, additional information will be posted to this page. We will continue to reach out to you via email when updates are available.

Orientation Week

KCU's Office of Student Affairs has designed orientation to help acclimate you to campus, introduce you to your new classmates and your faculty, and prepare you for a well-rounded and successful experience in medical school. Your attendance at all orientation activities is required unless otherwise noted. 

Monday, July 16: 

Breakfast and check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m. A personalized information packet will be available for you upon your arrival, and programming will begin promptly at 8 a.m. Any student who is not present by 8 a.m. Monday will risk losing his or her seat in the Class of 2022. Business attire is recommended. 

Tuesday, July 17:

Programming will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Business casual attire is appropriate. 

Wednesday, July 18: 

Programming will take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Business casual attire is appropriate. 

Thursday, July 19: 

On KCU's annual WE CARE Community Service Day, you will come together with your classmates, faculty and staff to complete community service projects in the area surrounding the University's campus. The experience of serving the community alongside your new classmates and KCU faculty promises to be a rewarding one. Casual and breathable clothing that can get dirty is recommended, as well as closed-toe shoes. A T-shirt will be provided to you. Community service will conclude by 1:00 p.m., and optional activities and workshops will be offered throughout the afternoon. 

Friday, July 20: 

Programming will take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Business casual attire is appropriate. 

Med School 101 

Beginning Monday, July 23, KCU will host Med School 101, an active learning experience that is a new component of the University's pre-curricular activities. You will work with faculty members to explore the structure and purpose of KCU's curriculum. The program will equip you with the strategies you will need for academic success in medical school. Med School 101 is required and will extend through Friday, July 27.  

White Coating Ceremony 

The White Coating Ceremony is a very touching and significant event that symbolizes the beginning of your career as a medical student. Your ceremony is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 22. You will have the opportunity to invite guests to witness this special event. Advance reservation of tickets is not necessary. The Office of University Events will provide additional details in the coming months.

Community Service Day
