KCUMB
is aware that the academic challenges faced by medical students
are very intense. It is possible that this experience will
be the first that will seriously challenge some medical students.
Academic skills, to include time management, study skills
and test-taking skills, may need to be improved to achieve
maximum success. There are two confidential services available
to medical students that are supported by KCUMB.
A
learning/education specialist is available to offer academic skills
workshops as well as to provide individual academic support as
needed. It is suggested that students seek this support at the
first sign of concern about academic performance abilities. This
specialist is housed in Smith Hall and can be reached at extension
481.
The
Supplemental Instructor Program allows for paid peer tutoring
to assist any student at KCUMB. Students can receive five hours
of tutoring each semester, regardless of grades. If a student
receives a C or below, he or she will qualify for five hours
of tutoring each week. As above, it is suggested that students
seek out this service at the first sign of poor academic performance.
