Kansas
City University of Medicine and Biosciences encourages students
to become involved in KCUMB-endorsed organizations.
Every student,
upon enrollment, becomes a member of the Student Government Association.
The representative governing body of the SGA is the Student Senate.
The Student Senate consists of six representatives and four officers
from each class. An executive council consisting of the president,
vice-president, secretary and treasurer presides over the Student
Senate.
The executive
council of the 2003-2004 Student Senate consists of:
- David
Keller, President
- Doug
Matey, Vice President
- Rhonda
Cermak, Secretary
- Cynthia
Wilkett, Treasurer
Each class
elects representatives and class officers according to the SGA
constitution. Each student pays an activity fee which finances
SGA activities and SGA chartered organizations. The primary function
of the SGA is to serve as a liaison between the students, faculty
and administration. SGA members serve on administration and faculty
committees and help to bring about changes that will benefit the
student body as a whole. The Council of Presidents is an SGA committee
composed of the president of all approved student organizations
and is chaired by the vice president of SGA. It was established
to assist these organizations in coordinating and organizing various
activities.
