The William J. Legg, DO, FAOASM, Distinguished Lecture Series was established in 2004 in honor of Dr. William J. Legg for his significant contributions to osteopathic sports medicine and the faculty and students of Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences.
A native of Orrick, Mo., Dr. Legg earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri after serving in the Medical Corps. Dr. Legg earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 1953 from what is now Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, where he also created a department of muscle re-education and rehabilitation for patients suffering from polio, multiple sclerosis and stroke.
For 24 years, Dr. Legg served as the team physician on the sidelines at North Kansas City High School sporting events. He provided hundreds of free physicals for the athletes during those years.
