Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences-College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCU-COM) offers a unique early admissions opportunity to outstanding undergraduate students at select educational institutions.

If you’re attending one of our partner programs, you may be eligible to apply for early admission to our College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Depending on your program, you can apply in your freshman or sophomore year of undergraduate school.

If accepted, you’ll have a reserved seat in KCU-COM and will forego your final year of undergraduate work. In addition, you’re not required to take the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT).

Advanced Medical Acceptance Program

Students at Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) can get a head start on their path to osteopathic medicine through our Advanced Medical Acceptance Program. Both universities select up to 25 MSSU students to attend the KCU College of Osteopathic Medicine at KCU-Joplin following successful completion of he MSSU curriculum.

This partnership fosters student success at both institutions, paving the way for local students into medical school and allowing our Joplin campus to educate high-quality doctors, specifically within the primary care specialty.

Eligibility Guidelines

  • Minimum 28 ACT score
  • Superior freshman/sophomore year academic performance
  • Community service
  • Knowledge of and dedication to the field of osteopathic medicine
  • Undergraduate and high school activities

If selected for the Partners Program you must:

  • Complete a minimum of 90 hours of coursework before matriculating into KCU-COM
  • Participate in KCU-COM's week-long Summer Learning Enhancement Program (SLEP)
  • Provide an official undergraduate transcript to KCU's Registrar's Office upon completion of your bachelor’s degree
