  • Williams_ShaNeishaS. Williams. Effects of Rotenone on the Plasma Membrane Ca2-+ATPase. Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS). Nov. 11 - 14, 2015; Seattle, Wash.

Hypothesis: We hypothesize that PMCA activity will be reduced in the ROT-treated cells. Read more

Sheikh_SidrahS. Sheikh. Studies on the Plasma Membrane Ca2+-ATPase in Human Brain in Parkinson’s Disease. Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS). Nov. 11 - 14, 2015; Seattle, Wash.

Hypothesis: PMCA activity and protein levels are endogenously low in the SN compared to other parts of the brain. PMCA activity and protein levels are further reduced in PD patients when compared to age-matched controls. Read more

Cabalo_NicoleN. Cabalo. Effect of Smad3 Deficiency on Human Endothelial Cells. AOA/OMED. Oct. 17–19, 2015; Orlando, Fla.

Hypothesis: We hypothesize that endothelial Smad3 activity suppresses the formation of vascular networks. Therefore, Smad3 deficiency in endothelial cells will then enhance their angiogenic potential. Read more

Hong_EugenieE. Hong. Attenuation of dilated cardiomyopathy in DMD mice expressing retinal dystrophin in muscle. AOA/OMED. Oct. 17–19, 2015; Orlando, Fla.

Hypothesis: We hypothesize that expression of retinal dystrophin in cardiac muscle will attenuate the dilated cardiomyopathy observed in DMD mice. This work would suggest a potential novel therapy of inducing expression of retinal dystrophin in DMD patients to accomplish the same outcomes. Read more
